La Meridiana: Tuscany, Italy

In the hills between Florence and Siena there is a pottery “La Meridiana”: a 17th century farmhouse that has been converted into a studio. Thunderstruck Studios LLC offers a 2 week workshop there with Ellen as the instructor.

During the 2 weeks there will be 10 days of classes, demos, one on one instruction, discussion, slides and exploration. Each day of class an incredible gourmet Tuscan lunch is served accompanied by plenty of chiantti.

A fine balance is reached between focused work, the pleasure of meals, the daily espresso and tea break and ample opportunity to travel around the region, on your own, or with the delightful Tomec as your personal guide. Florence and Siena are a short train ride away.

Student accommodations are in a nearby authentic Tuscan farmhouse within walking distance of the studio. There is a kitchen to prepare your own breakfast and supper.

Included in the experience are small outings to see local potters, the occasional sunset caught in some incredible Hill Town, an afternoon excursion to an ancient Tuscan treasure, a welcome dinner at the local tratoria, noon meals, accommodations with kitchen facilities, all the clay,  and workshop costs. The fee will be $3200 excluding airfare.

Please send me an email if you would like to be included in communications about the next trip.
